Extreme Skiing

Lebanon offers its visitors and locals, six ski resorts with snow groomed slopes for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy during 4 months of pure fun and adventure. The skiing season sometimes begins in late November and often lasts until late April.

The first Lebanese skiing pioneer, a young engineering student who brought with him the enthusiasm of skiing from Switzerland, was the first to introduce skiing to Lebanon. This enthusiasm spread slowly at first, and it was not until the 1930’s that skiing in Lebanon become widely popular.
Considered as the most beautiful spots in the country the Lebanese Mountains & Ski resorts are stunning retreats for skiers and extreme skiers.

Extreme skiing in Lebanon is performed on long, steep slopes on dangerous terrain. The sport is performed off-piste on slopes ranging from 45 to 60 degrees. This skiing trend is general and Lebanon, where the number of extreme skiers keeps on growing steadily, is no exception. The sensation extreme skiers get are addictive. This sport is simply a perfect escape and a way to express oneself. The Lebanese mountains are well adapted to the practice of this sport. As we do not enjoy extreme vertical drops even though the highest peak reaches 3,083 meters (Qornet El Saouda), extreme skiers use as much as possible the terrain they have at their disposal.
